Winter has been a very big crocheting month for me. I’ve bought over $100 worth of yarn, probably more. From baby shoes, to cardigans and now dolls. It has been a very good creative process. Something to keep my hands busy when marathoning Netflix.
I tried my hand at crocheting dolls recently. I’m not really sure if it was a successful one given the varied reaction I got from people. Things like cute, scary, creepy, adorable and even one describing it as a critter.
You can decide for yourself. My little one loves her. Kinda.
To be honest, I think I didn’t read the pattern well enough and just kept going. Doesn’t matter. It was still fun anyway.
For the doll, I got the pattern from this wonderful collection from Moogly. I am currently going through that whole list one doll at a time. Instead of the tail from the Amigurumi siren pattern, I used one I tried before from Mama Sanchez because I wanted a bigger tail. It worked out well. The hair was really fun because I did it strand by strand. It was a lot of work but the final outcome was better because the strands won’t come off.
I am currently finishing a smaller doll, the Cute Amanda little dollie. It is easy and super cute. I am thinking of putting all these dolls and creations aside and give them as Christmas presents. Saves me money!
What have you been busy creating lately?
