It’s been a good busy couple of weeks for the little one.
First off was the photo shoot for The Kidstore launch, which she absolutely loved. I honestly don’t know where she gets her confidence from but she was loving the camera. She wanted to do more photos, and managed to have a second shoot at the tail end of the event.
I love the store’s range (this isn’t a sponsored post, by the way). To be honest, I don’t buy expensive kids’ clothes because they grow out of it so fast. But The Kidstore’s range is actually quite affordable. Aside from the price, they also have a fashionable range. My daughter went nuts going through the rack – she specifically wanted one of the bikini swimsuits for girls, with the ruffles. Rebecca, the creative genius behind the designs, observed that my little girl is looking like she’s going to be a fashionista. Oh dear. She definitely didn’t get that from me.
Then we went to her school fete during a perfectly nice warm sunny day. Oh the pony rides, the animal farm, and the various fun rides there, she had a blast. Let’s face it, parents are really nothing but guards and caretakers during these events. It’s all about the kids right? We carry the bags, the water bottles, we pay for the rides, and put on the sun block, we queue up for the food, we watch where they placed their shoes. We’re the Help. Still we go to these things everytime they happen. Why? Because they’re fun.
Third, we had a girls’ day out watching the Dora concert at the Capitol Theatre. When we get the chance to go out together during the week, we always make a day of it. We had lunch together after the concert and walked around Chinatown together. We went shopping, took the train, browsed around shops. I love going out with her. I really do. She’s never misbehaved in public. Yes, it shocks me as well but I don’t ask why she’s like that. I’m just thankful that she is.
After our trips, I realised it’s not going to be the same next year when she goes to big kids’ school. Sure, I’ll have more free time for work but at the same time, I’ll miss having her with me for our little trips. I’m treasuring the last bits of free time we have together during the week because they do grow up so fast.
